Common questions

A game is taking a long time to make

Building a whole game takes about a minute, sometimes a little longer if our servers are busy. The progress bar is honest — it is not a fake animation. Keep the app open while it works.

My child got a demo game instead of the one I asked for

Occasionally a generated game does not pass our safety and quality checks, and rather than hand a child something wrong we fall back to a ready-made game. The app will tell you what went wrong. Tapping Try again keeps everything you typed, so it costs you nothing but a moment.

The artwork has not appeared

Artwork downloads the first time a game is played, so the very first play on a new device needs a connection. After that it is cached and works offline. If art fails entirely the game still plays with simpler graphics — that is deliberate, not a broken install.

Can my child use it without me?

Yes. The whole app is read aloud, so pre-readers can play on their own. Anything that matters — settings, sign-in, payment — sits behind a parental gate.

Do I need an account?

No. Mitten works straight away with no sign-in. Signing in is optional and only exists so progress follows you to a new phone.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by the store you bought them from, so they are managed there. On Android: Play Store → profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future billing and you keep access until the period ends.

Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription, and cancelling a subscription does not delete your data. They are separate — do both if that is what you want.

How do I delete everything?

See delete your account and data. It works whether or not you still have the app installed.

Reporting something concerning

Games are generated, and although every one passes automated safety and age-appropriateness checks before a child sees it, no automated check is perfect. If your child is ever shown something you think is wrong, please tell us and include the game’s title. We treat these first.
