Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of the Mitten mobile app and this website. By using Mitten you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

Who may use Mitten

Mitten is intended for children aged 3–8, used with a parent or legal guardian. You must be 18 or over to accept these terms, create an account, or make a purchase. By setting up Mitten you confirm you are the parent or guardian of the children whose profiles you create.

Your account

Mitten works without an account. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, you are responsible for keeping access to that account secure. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has used it.

Subscriptions and billing

• Mitten is free to use, with an optional paid subscription.
• Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS), not by us. Google’s or Apple’s terms govern the transaction.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel at any time in the Play Store or in your Apple ID subscription settings; access continues to the end of the paid period.
• Refunds are handled under Google Play’s or Apple’s refund policy. We cannot issue refunds directly.
• We may change prices. Changes never apply to a period you have already paid for, and Google or Apple will tell you before a renewal at a new price.

Generated content

Games are produced by an AI system from what you type. Every game passes automated safety, quality and age-appropriateness checks before a child can play it, and a game that fails is replaced with a vetted one.

Even so, no automated check is perfect. Generated games may occasionally contain mistakes, including factual errors in educational content. Mitten supplements a child’s learning; it does not replace teaching, a curriculum, or your own judgement. Please supervise as you see fit and report anything concerning — we prioritise it.

Acceptable use

Do not use Mitten to generate content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual, violent, or otherwise unsuitable for children; do not attempt to bypass the parental gate or the safety checks; do not reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute the app; and do not use automated means to generate games at scale. We may suspend access where these terms are broken.

Content ownership

The app, its artwork, its engine and the Mitten name are ours. The games generated for you are yours to play for personal, non-commercial family use. You keep whatever you type in; you grant us permission to process it in order to build and improve your games.

Availability

We aim to keep Mitten running but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Generating a game requires an internet connection and our servers. Features may change, and we may discontinue the service — if we do, we will give reasonable notice and you may delete your data at any time.

Liability

Mitten is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep all statutory rights that cannot be excluded.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will change the effective date above. Continuing to use Mitten after a change means you accept it.
